Disability Development Center (DDC) – 

Overview
Disability Development Center (DDC) is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Debiganj, Panchagar, Bangladesh. Established in 2007, DDC operates as an Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD), working with the Bangladesh DPO Coalition as a proud member organization. In this role, DDC is entrusted with implementing projects in Rangpur Division in coordination with district-level DPOs and OPDs, ensuring the development and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Key Areas of Work
DDC ensures the participation of persons with disabilities in:

• Education – Facilitating access to mainstream education for children with disabilities.

• Health & Rehabilitation – Supporting healthcare, rehabilitation, and referral services.

• Livelihood & Skills Training – Offering vocational training and income-generating opportunities.

• Social & Economic Inclusion – Promoting active participation in social, cultural, and economic life.

• Advocacy & Rights – Campaigning for accessibility, legal rights, and social inclusion.

Governance and Leadership
DDC is led by Ms. Bably Begum, Managing Director, an experienced community mobilizer and disability rights advocate. The governance structure is overseen by a local representative board, ensuring accountability, transparency, and participatory decision-making.

Mission
To empower persons with disabilities through advocacy, education, skill development, health, and livelihood support, while partnering with local communities and stakeholders to eliminate barriers to inclusion.

Impact
As a member of the Bangladesh DPO Coalition, DDC has strengthened the disability rights movement in Bangladesh by linking local DPOs and OPDs to national-level advocacy. By coordinating with partners, DDC has significantly contributed to disability empowerment and social inclusion across Rangpur Division. Its efforts have created pathways for education, healthcare, and employment while fostering dignity and equality for thousands of individuals.
