MYMENSINGH: ডিজএ্যাবল্ড পিপলস অরগানাইজেশান টু ডেভেলপমেন্ট (DPO to Development) বাংলাদেশের ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগের প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের উন্নয়নে নিবেদিত একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সংস্থা। এটি বাংলাদেশ ডিপিও কোয়ালিশন কর্তৃক দায়িত্ব হিসাবে ময়মনসিংহ বিভাগের প্রতিবন্ধীদের উন্নয়নে জেলা ভিত্তিক ডিপিও ও ওপিডি দের নিয়ে প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত। স্থানীয় ডিপিও ও ওপিডি সমূহের সঙ্গে সমন্বয় রেখে প্রতিবন্ধীদের অধিকার সুরক্ষা, সামাজিক অন্তর্ভুক্তি এবং ক্ষমতায়নমূলক প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন করে আসছে।

The Mymensingh Disabled Peoples Organization to Development (Mymensingh DPOD) is a community-based Disabled Peoples Organization (DPO) dedicated to the advancement of persons with disabilities in the Mymensingh Division of Bangladesh. Established in 2002, the organization has been working with the direct leadership and participation of persons with disabilities, ensuring that their voices are at the forefront of development planning and implementation.

As a member of the Bangladesh DPO Coalition, Mymensingh DPOD plays a vital role in coordinating with district-level DPOs and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) across the division. Through this network, the organization implements inclusive development projects aimed at human rights protection, social inclusion, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The organization was originally founded under the initiative known as Persons with Disabilities Self-Initiative to Development (PSID) of Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS), mobilizing persons with disabilities into strong grassroots groups and empowering them through leadership and collective action.

Mission

Mymensingh DPOD works to strengthen the leadership of persons with disabilities in order to promote the sustainability of their rights and social inclusion. The mission is pursued through:

  • Skill development and capacity-building programs

  • Awareness raising and community sensitization

  • Advocacy to influence policies and practices at local and national levels

  • Programs that ensure human rights, security, education, health, and economic empowerment for persons with disabilities
